When I hit 65-70 Mph a strange rattling noise occurs. To me it sounds if something is rattling against the windscreen. The noise keeps until I go above 85 Mph when it disappears. It was suggested that maybe the wheels needed to be balanced. I took the wheels to be balanced but sadly this didn’t make any difference.
I hope somebody can help or suggest what the problem could be.

You could try disconnecting the Speedo cable from the lamda box

I already disconnected the speedo cable, but alas.
No vibrating at all from the steering wheel.

Noises in a speed range are rotational in source or resonance.
A sound against the windscreen could be something resonating in the air at that speed, for example the cowling (screen cowl #105047) if not secured properly could at certain speed vibrate and knock again the windscreen.

Fold up a piece of paper and jam it in between the windscreen and the top black finisher panel then test drive. Mine was doing the same thing and that's what it was, need to re-adjust the panel. Only did it at a certain speed.

My money is on this cause. Mine was loose, and I discovered that it was missing the foam weatherstripping (108632). The lack of foam allowed the finisher's metal tabs to click against the SS retainer. Once I installed the foam, it was tight. Here are a couple pics to illustrate:
