Is there a way to adjust the latch on the louvre or catch on the engine cover so that the louvre actually grabs it?

Yes the catch has two nuts that can be loosened and be moved back if it's all the way back and doesn't catch it's play with the louver time. Some people don't bother with it.

Thanks..I had looked but didnt notice it could be moved.
I was already playing with the louvre trying to move it around to no avail.

Hi Rob,
In addition to what Dave suggests, if you still can't get it to grab (vertically), try adjusting the 2 bump stops on the lower cover. I had to do both of these things and play around with it a bit before I got mine in alignment.

The rear louvers can be adjusted by loosening the bolts on each side to raise, lower and slide the rear louvers a little. The latch can be adjusted a bit too but often the latch is worn to the point where adjusting doesn't help. No matter how you try to adjust, if you pull up on the louvers the latch won't hold. It doesn't seem to be all that important, the wind won't let them move up anyway (unless you are going backwards at high speed). Make sure the engine cover is adjusted first and working and latching as it should before trying to adjust the rear louvers.

I dont have any bump stops on my engine cover...and its working just fine, latches n everything (which Im glad cause it woulda been a pain if the latch cable was broke).

I got it..
Had to readjust the louvre, which was a pain in the but..though at least now its up level with the body...and..
Adjusted the loop on the engine cover so that it was a far back as possible and up a little...and then had to bend it back further, now the louvre latches nicely..at least for now..lol

A functioning louver to lower engine cover latch is a rarity in the DeLorean world. Take it from some one whose does work and who always meets other owners surprised by that fact.

Hehe...given how long it took me to get mine to work I can beleive it. I prolly wouldnt have worried about it, but pretty much just doing busy work til I can get the parts to do real work on her..hehe.
