    I was wondering why the frame was black, forgot undercoating was that color.

    Yeah you're looking at a megaton of labor there. Winter project, undercoat is a giant bitch to work with. Be prepared to have your car out of commission for a few months if you DIY, or pay a lot for someone else to repair it. (Or, heck, tech day? Is that something that would be tackled in one?)

    You'd need to cut the plate off the bottom of the engine cradle so you can see the extent of the damage in there and fab metal / repair it. Pain in the ass with the frame in the vehicle. It is of course very easy with the frame out, you can also see what other rust you have and repair it as well with the frame removed.
