About 17 years ago there was a DeLorean in Simi Valley, but can't remember its VIN number.

While at a local car show today, I met the owner of 1991 and her husband.
It now resides in Birmingham Al., and is a black auto.

Can you explain this to me? I don't understand why an actual photo is needed if the owner can tell you the VIN and the build date. My VIN plate photo was up a while back, presumably thanks to the PO, and I asked for it to be removed (which it was, thank you) because it seems like a really handy resource for creating scam ads with no tangible upside or benefit. I don't get it.

We've been collecting VIN photos to get a history of the cars. The VIN plates have a manufacture date on them. There have been interesting things show up. VIN plate styles changed during the history. A couple of cars escaped with no manufacture date stamped on the plate. Another car had two VIN plates issued to it with two different manufacture dates.

We know that the '82 cars ran through 12170. The VINs from 12000 to 12170 were changed to 17000 to 17170. I've never seen the 12XXX VIN plates in that range. It would be interesting to know what happened to them. I would imagine that they ended up in a landfill.

Hey there, I just bought #20034 a week ago, a 1983 Delorean, with about 7,200 miles...so you can update that on your list to WATERLOO, Illinois....no, there are not any Napoleonic ice cream shops here! Photo of the baby on the way home from purchase is attached! Cheers and I appreciate all the helpful hints and tips on taking care of our stainless steel cars.

VIN 10201 here in Birmingham, AL. It's a 5 speed with grey interior

4941 is alive and well, and living in RI. Grey interior automatic...built Oct 1981.....aprox 11k miles.

VIN 1121 is in Minneapolis, MN. She has 5,400 miles. Black interior, 5 speed, still sporting the grooved & flapped hood and the original dark gray wheels.

VIN 5778 is in Macomb Michigan. License Plate DOCBRWN, no longer in Battle Creek.

23,075 miles. Grey Interior, Automatic.

Date of manufacture: Oct (28th) 1981
Other information is the same.
