I dunno, depends how the vw motor is built. I have a dune buggy with a stroked 2276, easily beats a new camaro ss.
This vw engine will run high 11s in the 1/4.
Of course I dont have the added weight of all that time crap, but it's way easier and cheaper to mod a vw than prv.

Couple of pics of the motor, provided by the restorer of the BTTF 3 Delorean.
Strange seeing a VW bug motor in there, but look at all that room!!
This was done so repairs could easily be made during filming. Lots of movies and tv show back in the day did this trick. On Magnum PI the Ferrari 308 was used for normal driving shots, but for stunt work and camera work a stunt car was made with a VW DUB motor. Make sense in a way. That car now sits on the Universal lot.

Thats interesting...always wondered how that thing was up so high. With that front end pointing upward so much, it'd be a pain to drive, even without the box o' junk on the hood...lol
