    There's finally a 1-DIN CarPlay-compatible stereo receiver

Been waiting five years for something that works well with an iPhone to come in 1-DIN. SO EXCITED.

Yep. It's listed in it's expandability section. Looking at the instructions, there is a sensor wire that would be fed a 12V signal from the reverse lights that triggers the entire display to switch over to the rear camera input automatically. Which the head unit automatically mirrors the entire image.

Crutchfield has had this radio for a while, and it's almost perfect for what I need. Handsfree calling, built-in charger, & CarPlay for texting and navigation. It does have a 3 drawbacks though.

First, there is no dedicated feed for a power antenna. So if you've got one, you'll need to use the Amp feed wire. If you've got an Amp, I imagine you'll also need to install a relay to power both. Despite Satellite radio, it doesn't offer HD radio for local channels. Finally, it blocks the center console vents. I've rebuilt my door ducts to fully seal and work perfectly, but that's still allot of airflow to loose.

Just playing devil's advocate here, is that really all that much of a plus? If I'm driving, chances are that I'm plugging my phone in to recharge it anyway.

All these kinda flip ups block the vents....I've been trying to come up with some kind of thing that could snap on and redirect the air around the screen...though I dont have one these things yet..alotta other more important bits still needed..hehe.

As for this one..I think its a little expensive for one that doesnt come with a camera..and navigation is an add on you have to get seperately.

It is on the expensive side, but I think the reason navigation isn't included is that they intend you to use your phone for navigation, via the CarPlay interface. That's what I plan on doing.
Shopping around you can find it for under $500 shipped, which is slightly better. I think one of these will be my Black Friday gift to myself :-)

Dang, if only it were a flip-down, it would be perfect!

Yeah, I've never seen one that flips down...or even that extends out then rotates around the center.
