DaraSue, I'm glad you got it sorted. Very impressive!

David, Your suggestion, however, was too lengthen the link.

You have to shorten it to remove the slack and preload it at idle. The slack then moves to opening the throttle, which is of no concern.

Thanks again for your help and advice, everybody! It was quite a project (especially considering I'd never even changed my own oil before buying this car, and technically still haven't), but it was worth it to have a few extra days of driving before the snow hit.

I'm glad the guide proved useful. Can I hug your car?

A postscript to this story... I had the intake off to replace the plug wires, didn't see any coolant in there (a lake of clutch fluid though) but pressure tested it just to be sure and got leaks around 14. Ended up ordering hoses & clamps from DMCMW and DPI in the hopes that one of them would arrive in time for my friend (our own hippieman9) to help with the install, DPI's arrived earlier in the morning so that's what we went with. They're the silicone ones so I'll give that a try and if it doesn't work out at least I've already got a spare set.

That left forward clamp is a bit wonky you should consider adjusting it a bit further forward a .5 inch closer to the Y and parallel to the other clamp.

And trim the hose to the correct length.

Good point. It’s about 3/4 inch to long for the application. It’s a stock length coupler from Vibrant performance products.
