Another question (again, sorry if this was covered already)..

Will there be a Saturday car show pass for people off the street who just want to see the cars? I have a friend in Chicago who may want to come visit on Saturday and see the cars.

    Thanks

Great, you can cut-and-paste. Still does not answer my question.

If I'm reading that right, it says the car show Sat is 10-4 and open to the public. I know a few locals who weren't doing the whole event were planning on stopping by and saying hi to everyone.

I thank you for the clarification on this. Had this been communicated back during the "early registration", I would have done it then. I will register this week.

Also, to add my two cents on some other statements made. It is a shame if you have "volunteers" you can't rely on, but I am intimately familiar with what it takes to run a show like this. Specifically dealing with registration, and badges as I did quite a bit of it in Pigeon Forge, and then pretty much 100% of it for all of Ken's shows after that, including all of the car raffle tickets. Because so many people did not register until the week before, I was making badges in real time at the show where we also allowed people to register on-site. Then we had the shows where the Bricklin group was there too, and I had to do their badges. In some cases, we would let people pay for dinners after they already started (if we had space). Yes, it is a lot of work but it can be done.

From experience, I hope you have something in place to stop "crashers" from getting in. Ken lost a lot of money over the years from people going to dinners they did not pay for.. Chicago was one of the worst! This includes people in the community not just random strangers driving by. I solved the problem with the numbered wristbands. It added complication because the number on the badge and wristband had to match, but it prevented a lot of theft.
Just for clarification, the policy has been fluid, based on circumstances
of the anticipated event activities and capacities of certain rooms. Early
on, we anticipated at least one presentation that would require the use of
the Resort's theater, which is limited to 300 (plus DCS staff). Since we
would have limited seating and we did not want to create a waiting list,
we considered a non-refundable component, so we did not end up with empty
seats. Of course, medical and family emergency cancellations would be
refunded and other considerations could be taken into account for refunds.
While the current policy mirrors Ken's policy and the policy of DCS 2016,
it's not identical, and we will process the refunds as they are requested.

Although we did state there is a reduced staff of DCS volunteers for 2018,
there is no reason to state or imply the volunteers cannot be relied upon.
Most DCS 2018 volunteers have signed up for "only before DCS" or signed up
for "only during DCS", which may limit their availability, not their abilities.
Most of the Planning Team has not enlisted their entire families to assist
with DCS 2018 (God Bless Ken's wife and kids for helping Ken in the past),
but that does not mean DCS 2018 will be better or worse, just different.
It's not that we cannot do it Ken's way; we choose to do it differently.

As for security, this is another thing that will be done differently too,
and this is an area where the DCS Staff has increased from previous events.
Off-Duty Chicago Police officers will be among the security staff and we
will have designated areas where you will need to "show your badge" or you
will be denied entry, so make sure to wear your DCS Event Badges for all
the DCS Breakout Room presentations and all the DCS Evening Dinners. There
is one entry point to the Tower Gem Rooms (2nd floor) and one entry point
for St. Charles Room - Salon VI for Dinners, which controls entry traffic.
On a related note, Security will patrol the Car Show Main Floor, so we do
not have people taking photos in displayed cars without asking the owner.

    Thanks,

Rich, Thanks for the clarification on this. Many events allow dinners to be added right up to start of the event, so it's good to understand the constraints imposed by the resort. I'm probably not alone in wanting to attend some dinners but also doing my own culinary exploration for some evenings. Is there a specific listing of what speakers will be at each of the dinners? Additionally, is there a more detailed schedule listing the times and specific speakers/VIPs for the various daily scheduled break-out rooms?

    Thanks,
    Ron

    Hi Ron,

Schedules will still be tentative right up until the week of the convention,
but I will attach the latest tentative schedule below, as of today. As for
the break-out room schedule, this is still tentative and "In Flux" as well,
but basically, most of the break-out session are 10a-12p and 1p-5p on
Thursday and Friday, and from 9a-11a on Saturday morning. I will try
to post a tentative break-out room schedule as soon as it settles a bit.

Dinner Keynote Speakers from 7p-9p, Thursday/Friday, 7p-8p Saturday.
Evening Presentations follow Keynote Speakers after each evening dinner.

    Transport from Chicago O'Hare

Is anybody arriving in Chicago the morning of the 15th? I would love to be able to split the cost of an uber with somebody if possible. I'm assuming we would go right to the tech day from the airport? Or at least drop our luggage off at the hotel first.

PRR Discount Hotel Registration Extended to Friday, July 27th

    Procrastinators Rejoice !!

Pheasant Run Resort has agreed to extend the Discount Room Rate for
two more weeks, bringing it closer to being in-line with the deadline for
for DCS 2018 Dinner Registrations, which will be before the end of July.

Pheasant Run Resort extended the Discount Room Rate until July 27th
or until rooms sell out (some nights may have $99 rooms sold out).
So, if you waited to register your hotel room, you now have more time.

Regular Event and Dinner Registration will end on July 15th and then
small Late Fees will apply. Late Dinner Registration may run through
at least July 27th, but before July 30th, since we need to pre-pay the
Resort for the Dinners by August 1st. The Event Registration may be
extended a few days past August 1st, but not extend past August 5th.
So, by August 5th (or earlier) DCS 2018 will be Sold Out.

If you intend to attend DCS 2018, register soon or you may miss out.

See many of you in August at the Mega Center at Pheasant Run Resort.
