Mecum auction digital newsletter featuring Delorean

Just got my Mecum.com digital newsletter and has a nice feature on the Delorean. Missing from various Delorean breakdowns is one from "Comedians
with cars getting coffee" where the Delorean Sienfeld is driving overheats and has to be flat towed. Interesting article.

Anyone know what the DMC that was on the block in January in Florida went for? I thought of bidding on it but the registration process looked like too much of a hassle. Was curious what it went for but it doesn't look like they publish the final bid price of their lots.

Interesting. Never heard the Glace Slick connection. You'd think Ace Frehley's car chase would merit mention. Also never heard of an English musician hoarding 9 of them.

There were 2 cars at Mecum Kissimy this year:
    1981 - Auto - Black 25k miles - sold for $26,400
    1981 - 5speed - Grey - 5k miles - sold for $37,400

From the pictures both needed some finish work. They looked mostly original.

    Wow, thanks.

I was tracking the 5-speed. Dodged a bullet there, I only paid $1100 more for mine and mine is in really good condition. I assume those are bid prices without the settlement fees as well. *whistles*

I think the one at B Jackson went for around 58k in January.

Only verification I could find of Grace Slick's Delorean ownership on the web.

"Kantner attended a posh private school in Marin County from age 5 through high school. She says that sometimes she'd be embarrassed when her mother would show up "with blue hair, emerging from this Delorean with both doors open like wings . . . I never knew what she would say."

Couldn't find verification of the other claim

I remember seeing this interview on David Letterman as a kid when it aired in 1987:

I think Pauly Shore has a similar story about getting picked up in a DeLorean

Ha! Thanks! Comment starts @ 5:20. So by 1987 she did not have it anymore. Somebody out there owns Grace Slick's Delorean. I went to high school with the granddaughter of the man who owned my Delorean and she was also embarrassed to be dropped off at school in it. Just goes to show how attitudes change. It was refreshing seeing a late night segment not invaded by politics. Letterman used to be great.

I know James Bourne had one, at one point, but 9? No.

There was a Mark Bourne who has owned a series of them, but never all together.

I don't always drive cars, but when I do, I prefer DeLoreans

No-one is to stone anyone, even, and I want to make this absolutely clear, even if they do say "carburetor"
