    The early names of DMCL

    Hello,

here is a little piece of history of the DMCL. From some DMC internal documents I have seen that the "DeLorean Motor Cars Limited" did not start under that name. On July, 11th 1978 it was registered under the name "JARSM SECURITIES LIMITED" in the registry of companies for Northern Ireland. The name was changed to "DE LOREAN LIMITED" on July 28th, 1978. And in August 1978 a request was submitted to change the name again into the final "DE LOREAN MOTOR CARS LIMITED".
See attached documents. The name "JARSM SECURITIES (LIMITED)" seems not to be related to DeLorean. Because there is also a document from the department of commerce that tells about the usage of the name for a limited company. This document is dated October 25th 1976. Long before Northern Ireland came into discussion as the location of the production facilities.

    Kind regards
    Peter

Nice piece of research Peter - well done

The solicitors who are mentioned in one of the documents is Sellig Mills and Ballie.

Robin allie became the company solicitor from the beginning of DMCL and into receivership.

    regards

    Nick

Thank you Nick. The research wasn't that difficult. All the documents were contained in a bunch of papers, stapled together and titled "DE LOREAN LIMITED MEMORANDUM AND ARTICLES OF ASSOCIATION -and- COMPANIES FORMS". A document that came from the DMC offices after their bankruptcy.

    Kind regards
