Sanding/hand graining paper selection
Ok ok ok I have read every thread on this subject now and I have some areas on my car I need to hit with sandpaper as the PO used a scrotchbrite in the wrong direction. I have having the hardest time finding aluminum oxide paper at any of the local hardware stores. Does anyone have a specific name for which sandpaper to use in 120 grit?
Thanks

Any good quality sandpaper will work. If the scratches are really bad you might want to use 80# first, then 120 # and then a Scotch-Brite pad. Depends on how you want it to look after you have finished.

thanks David, I was just concerned that some people mentioned certain papers leave a residue that will rust onto the stainless.

I think what you mean is NEVER use steel wool. Tiny particles of steel will become embedded in the stainless steel and then rust making it look like the stainless steel is rusting. Aluminum oxide will not do that.
