    Coolant problem

Been scratching my head abit lately when it comes to my driver 81’. This summer it’s developed a coolant problem. Will run down the road this fine, aswell sit in traffic and not over heat. How ever when I stop and shut the car off the over flow tank will puke. I’ve even noticed a bit on the ground in front of the house, leaving a trai where I stop and turn to back into my drive way. Exhaust doesn’t smell of coolant, system seems to hold pressure fine.
    Any pointers?

    Tell us more.

    1. You are sure all the coolant you are seeing is coming only from the overflow/vent hose next to rt rear pontoon/frame? No other leaks? Since you say it holds pressure there should not be any significant leaks in the system...

    2. If it is only from the overflow hose: After each post-shutdown puke event and cooldown do you add more coolant to the header bottle??
2.a. If so, how high do you fill it?
2.b. If not, does it puke after each subsequent drive?

1: 100% it’s over flow and over flow only
2: have I yes, do I have to all the time no, it’s not puking it’s guts out, just enough to wet a spot maybe the size of a large shoe. It’s not a over fill problem as I’ve had it go low enough to suck air. I’ve put a temp over flow bottle on it

Is your driveway on a big angle, Gary? Can you leave it somewhere parked afterwards that is flat? Or even just pull in to the driveway instead of backing in. Maybe the angle from front to back is producing an air pocket somewhere it shouldn't be and somewhere hot?

If you are dumping coolant either you aren't leaving enough room for expansion or it is getting too hot. Verify the fans are coming on at the proper temperature and that the radiator cap is capable of holding 15 psi. Make sure both fans are running and moving air. Rebleed to make sure you got all of the air out of the system.
