    I'm out of ideas except have you considered a right-angle service valve? Looks like the threads start immediately.

    Just make sure its not too tall that you can't close the lower engine cover.

    I have personally used the NAPA adapters I posted on many DeLorean A/C systems (with OEM hoses), including my own car (with aftermarket R134a hoses) with no issues whatsoever. Trust me, they are very good quality and will work. The threads start where they need to.

    You will need to remove the old schrader valves BEFORE installing the adapters, so keep that in mind.

    If you buy them and they don't work for some odd reason, send them back. What are they, like $5 each?

    Not sure of the diameter of your compressor's ports (3/16,1/4, 3/8 SAE/??), but I think this style is what you are looking for, if you don't want to remove the valves. (I would ;-)
