The Dream is Real-My DeLorean #16985

Much like the legend itself, my DeLorean story has been one of many emotions ranging from sheer excitement to painful letdown. There seems to be an aura of intensity that surrounds the DMC and it can affect anyone who becomes involved with the cars in any number of ways. I couldn't be happier though with where this search has led me, and I am still struggling to comprehend the incredible chain of events that led to the acquisition of my 1983 DeLorean. I owe so much thanks to my girlfriend for the support and help getting the car out of what we think was 30 years or more spent in a backyard and to my Dad for his support as well. Also many thanks to the seller who is truly a great person and blessed me with the opportunity.

Congratulations! Hope you are enjoying ownership so far even though it looks like it'll be a while before your car is moving under its own power.

I've had some of the most fun in my life working on and restoring my car so don't forget to enjoy that journey as well as the destination. As you start to fix things up take lots of photos of everything you do for documentation... I can't tell you how many times I've looked back at old photos for reference when figuring out the correct installation of a certain part or figuring out what order to stack certain washers, etc. Plus then you'll be able to go back and compare before and after to really appreciate your progress.

Don't be afraid to ask questions either if you can't find an answer when searching the forum. If something needs to be fixed there is almost 100% chance that someone here has done it before and can help.

Yes the car has only 7,000 or so miles and one owner. I'll be the only one turning the wrenches

Thanks for the comments and recommendations, I am happy to have a great resource like this as I begin the journey with this car. I got a chance to look over a few things on it yesterday, and it appears to retain 3 of the 4 original NCT tires and judging by the tread depth they are hardly worn even though they are shredded from decades of neglect.
