Early 1981 Automatic, Black Interior - Completely Refurbished.

    1981 Delorean
    VIN: 0628
    Automatic/Black Interior
    Mileage: 34,500
    Location: Long Island, NY (USA)
    Price: $39,500

Description: A low-mileage, early 1981 automatic that has been completely restored/upgraded over the past 8 months. It runs/drives excellent, has excellent stainless and a clean/rust-free frame. You will see from the pictures that this is a very nice example of a Delorean.

    History:
I purchased the car in July of 2018 from the family of a long-time owner from the northeast who had passed away in 2009. The last registration on the car was 2003. It did not run, but looked to be otherwise well cared for.

The car came with a large amount of documentation including a book of receipts dating back to 1986 (showing that it had the same owner for over 30 years and that the mileage is accurate).

Since then, it has gone through an extensive renovation/restoration with the intension of getting it back on the road and in the hands of a Delorean enthusiast who will be able to enjoy the car. It is now a very nice example of a restored and upgraded Delorean.

Looks great! Would a March 81 build have a flat hood from the factory?

You are right, I suppose it acquired the later hood sometime in its history with the previous owner. Probably around the same time it got the 1982+ exhaust tips!
