    Introduction- new owner- Alameda CA

    Hi all,
New owner here in Alameda CA. Just purchased a 1981 5900 mile DMC12 (black) last week. Awaiting delivery. Apart from paint and a minor refurbishment to repair the accumulated insults of sitting in a museum for 30 years the vehicle is stock and I intend to turn it into a reliable weekend driver. Attached the list of updates I'm considering. The labor will be all mine....of course I'll drive the car a little first, but mostly locally until I'm confident it will be reliable. Signing up for AAA Premier this morning.

    Work already done:
    - All fluids flushed
    - New fuel pump, injectors, rest of fuel system flushed
    - Basic service w/new water pump
    - New brake calipers all round
    - AC system gassed and running

A little history on me- I grew up in Ireland, and have known about DeLoreans since they launched in 1981. I've wanted one since then. BTTF didn't help the cause. I've spent the last 18 months completely overhauling a 1974 Rockwell 112A so my wife is ready for me to take on a project that doesn't involve 30 hours a week at Oakland airport.

    Any other owners around Alameda?

    Best

Congrats on the purchase! That auction was making news.

There is a great NorCal DMC club. I used to belong to it when I lived in Lodi. Reach out to Jawn101 (Jon) or vwdmc16 (Clint) here on DMCTalk to get connected to local events. They are in the Sacramento area and just led a tech session in the last month.

Looks sharp! Congratulations on joining the club!
The only advice I would give regarding your parts lost is to change the relays to Daves (Bitsyncmaster here on DMCTalk) solid state relays.

Congrats! I see you love spreadsheets as much as I do

If you want to save $10 on the cold air intake the one that DMCH sells is just a Spectre brand flex duct. You can buy it at pretty much any auto parts store for $20 instead of $30 from DMCH. PN 8741

Cool (literally). I think I have some 3" SCAT lying around that might work in that case.

    Congrats on you new DMC

    Good info from Mark.

Spectre also has them in colors and chrome.

Here is a link to a chrome one which would be closer to the original aluminum one for reference :

Id add fuel injection lines to the list. Old lines have been known to leak and cause fires.
