    My MS setup was very simple; fuel only. Are you also doing ignition? Also curious what you are using the expansion card for?

    After I get the car running fuel only I plan on doing ignition as well. Possibly even throw a snail own who knows .

    Spent the week of vacation pulling the wife's mini engine. And installing a new powerunit I built with my brother. Then spent a couple hours tonight on my car. Not much done just mounted a fuel pressure regulator and removed the kjet wiring from the engine compartment. Mounted throttle body .

    EFI conversion coming along. Done for today. All kjet components and wiring removed. Pcv /vacuum/IAC system installed . Injection harness built/ installed.     2790 went Megasquirt a couple of years ago

    I converted to Megasquirt awhile back myself. Same reasons as others i reckon. I put about 120k miles on Kjet and never really had too many issues, largely i think because the car was driven nearly every day so it never had time to gum up.
    I love MS for a bunch of reasons and dislike it for only one. And that one could be addressed.
    My setup is MS3,Renault Alpine intake manifold from Martin Gutkoski (UK), full sequential injection, distributorless, full spark control, coil-near-plug ignition ( six GM LS3 coils), no crank sensor, all triggered by an optical trigger wheel where the distributor should be.
    Likes:
    All-weather, all conditions starts. No hot start issues, no replacing the fuel distributor o rings, no unplugging cold startvalve or anything.
    Elegant simplicity- eliminated idle ecu, kickdown switches, cold start valve, copper pipe of doom, all the mechanical and electric k jet bits, etc.
    All the spark plugs are easy access now. And probably will never have to get to them again.

    Other bits like kickdown switches (and their adjustments) go away— just add a relay and tell Megasquirt what throttle position you want it activated at. Mine controls automatic transmission kickdown and shuts off ac compressor.
    Programmable load control. Mine Adds 30 RPM when the ac compressor comes on. No real need because Megasquirt will adjust for engine load to keep rpm even, but kicking it up a little at idle makes the compressor happier at Texas summer stop lights.
    Kicks on the cooling fans at a programmed engine temperature, not the temperature at a coolant pipe (although the otterstat can still do it too as a backup)
    Adjusts to any condition as long as you have the patience to tune it. Never too rich, never too lean. Kjet was absolutely amazing in its day at compensating for far more things than a typical carb does...but it still had compromises under some conditions, too.
    Programmable ignition timing means no distributor, no vacuum advance, no centrifugal advance, nothing.
    No thermo- time or any other under-hood, half- buried vacuum switches.
    Operates a purge valve so you can keep the charcoal cannister and not smell up your garage with fuel tank vapors
    Eliminates the RPM relay
    Engine runs as smooth as a gravy sandwich ( well, as smooth as an odd- fire engine ever will)

    Dislike: not using a crankshaft trigger means it can take MS awhile longer to sync up with a cam-driven trigger wheel when cranking. Won’t be using it as a getaway car in a bank job.

    Designing, documenting, fabricating, installing, and tuning was a real...challenge. Loved about 70 percent of doing it, the other 30 percent completely sucked at the time, but like most painful things, the memory ( or at least its intensity) fades enough to fool you into thinking you loved the whole thing.

    By the way, i used the original Bosch idle valve ( ms3 can directly drive it) for awhile but switched to a functionally identical but smaller Volvo ( Bosch) valve later purely for mechanical convenience. Think of it as a wideband air flow valve- means the throttle plates are completely closed at idle and all air at idle is delivered by the valve. Also means there is no mechanical idle adjustment at all, all programmable. Regular idle valves have less control over air flow, so you have to let some air past the plates and the iac only controls a narrow range. No big deal, those work fine too, but i like that TPS 0 really means fully closed.
    I am using MAP for control, no mass air sensor. May add that someday but so far haven’t had a reason to.

    So far, glad i did it all. I documented it with a full schematic and revised the technical service manual to reflect the changes so some dude in the future has some hope of keeping it running.
