    This is what finally got it on for me - I found one door thicker on the inside than the other and a socket wouldn't fit in there. Friction fitting it over a driver head held it in place until it caught on the thread.

    Hold a small piece of duct or electrical tape in front of the socket sticky side out. Force the nut into the socket. It will hold the nut in place until you pull the socket off.
