Has anyone switched from coating the chassis parts in Zink to Powder Coating that looks similar in color?

We did this for a while during the dark times. I mean pre- stainless enlightened era of mild steel frame restoration.

Yes with a bit of metal flake to give it luster.

Powder holds up a little longer than the zinc short term. We don't keep anything zinc on the chassis other than our new front hubs and spindles. Nothing is powder coated other than the sway bar and rear hub assemblies since everything else has now been engineered in stainless.

Zinc plating is much thinner than powdercoat, and will tarnish/corrode much faster. However they are very different surface finishes visually.
I would just powdercoat everything, but not everyone likes that look.

I am not affiliated with Delorean Midwest in anyway.
The parts that were zinc coated in my car didn't hold up well to being degreaser and cleaning. If you leave them alone the coating seems to hold up for the most part but also leaves spots of deterioration and rust and if you don't keep it clean it doesn't look pretty for long.
I think zinc is fine for aluminium and other non ferrous metals but again, it doesn't seem to like being rubbed vigorously often (insert sexual innuendo here).
