Ecoboost 2.3 4 cyl mated to stock trans?

    Just fishing for opinions.
The ecoboost is small, cheap(used) , lightweight, and puts out nearly 300 HP. Seems like a sensible swap. How would one go about getting an adapter to the manual trans, plus clutch/flywheel. Nearly 300 HP is probably more than the rest of the systems can take, and would shed about 75 lbs off the extreme rear end of the chassis.

    what say all?

Getting an engine swap to fit the stock transaxle is going to take a machined adapter plate which is a small piece of the engine swap puzzle. That design work has already been done for chevy LS engines (see LS swap threads on this board for more details) but as far as I know there hasn't been any 2.3L ecoboost swaps to date. That will mean a lot of measuring, CAD work, and CNC machining. If the engine actually fits in the engine bay without pushing the trans forward then you can reuse the stock trans mounts. But more than likely there will not be room to fit the engine with the transmission in the existing location. You'll also need custom engine mounts, not to mention a NOS fogger system, a T4 turbo, AIC controller, direct port nitrous injection and a stand alone fuel management system. And try not to blow yourself up, period.

    Well said.

The adapter and flywheel (assuming you would retain a manual transmission) would be the first major hurdle.

But according to DeLorean fanatics, swapping an engine is as easy as changing wheels. Just in the past month there have been several people who bought a car and ask advice on what engine they should swap in it. I mean all you need is a car, engine, maybe a set of custom motor mounts and an afternoon.

    One of you is lying!

Not a bad way to spend $10,000.

I vote we engine swap in the motor from Michael's van into his car, and vice versa. Force him into a corner and make him watch.
