Agreed! Man, this takes me back. I remember drooling over these Alpine stereos when I was maybe 16-18 . One time, a Countach arrived at the local stereo store. It was red, and in the back of a glass container on a truck. It was part of an Alpine promotional tour. My teenage self was was blown away. I'm sure I have a picture of that somewhere.

Incidentally, the first thing I learned doing on cars was installing head units and speakers.

Anyone remember the 2 keys you had to use to release the head unit out of the din bracket? I still have a couple of those in my electronics tool box.

I have a set for the Alpine unit in my DeLorean. Not pre 2000 but close.

It's not aftermarket, but I had to throw this in because it's definitely old-school, and it's from the 80's. I think it looks great.

This is my currently installed, factory AM radio (GM-Delco), in my 1988 Chevy S-10 SWB, Iron-Duke pick-up. It still plays great (for an AM radio). The buttons work, but the station selection knob slips, so it's hard to find a new station and thus I pretty much stay on the one station I can stomach.

I've debated whether to remove it and go with a modern double-din, remote control radio, mp3, SD, USB capable sound system, but I just can't bring myself to doing it.
