    Counting Clock - Instructions?

My center console clock was not illuminating so I took apart the metal shifter console to expose and clean the wires and connections. surprisingly the clock started up and illuminates nicely. Unfortunately the time just kept running up minute by minute and will not stop. Anyone have programming instructions or know why the clock would just keep counting up?

    Thanks

    Jason

I would imagine the button is being pushed down and you don't realize it. There's only one button and not much to it. You push it and the clock moves forward in time. Release the button and it stops. It's very low tech.

OE clocks have an Hour button and min button. The new clock DMC sells has one button. But if you want a great reproduction of the original contact “ Yoda” on here. He sells a clock with battery backup. Plug n play.

Probably your minute button is stuck down then.

It's a very simple contact switch. My guess is the thin foil strip could be broken making permanent contact.

Here is a photo. I will check the min button as it does look like it is in more.

It's definitely jammed in there. You'll have to carefully pull the clock out, separate the lens from the case, and re-install everything correctly. It can be a bit easier if you install the clock lens to the case while holding the lens on your hand (bottom) and clipping the case in from the top so the buttons sit on the lens (in place) when you close it up.

Oh - another tip...while the lens is out, it's a good time to polish it with some compound. It'll look brand new when you reinstall it.

While you have it apart you may want to use some "Plastic Safe contact cleaner on both buttons.

Maybe a PO spilled some pop or something sticky on it by accident and it is gummed up.

    Hope you get it working
