    The light purple wire to the radio...

    ...is that the one that will allow the radio to keep its memory?

    I'd confirm this as it is always hot and connects to fuse 17.

    Yes it is.
    Please see page M:18:17 in the DeLorean Workshop Manual.
    Purple = Feed Live At All Times
    Light Green / White = Feed Main Relay Live When Ignition Is On

    The Purple wire is what I have hooked up to my JVC stereo so it maintains the preset stations when the car is off
