    Drive Shaft Transmission Parts

Hi, on removing the engine I notice one of my transmission axles has quite a dent in it.

What part is this as the explodaview actually shows a single "inner drive shaft"

The part I am looking for is actually the domed element which fits from the wheel to the engine.

I don't want the shaft but the CV joint is on the end does that come with the domed dented element (I assumed not)

Looking closer, that doesn't look like it has the same edge rim as the other one but I am not sure if that matters. But there is a female receiving edge on the explodaview seen on part 2.

I didn't realise they were so flimsy, it may be worth me trying to smooth it out once removed.

As long as the CV joint works and doesn't grind on the dented portion of the cap, you would be fine leaving it alone. All it is doing is keeping the grease in. Another option is to take it off and hit it with a hammer to pop some of the dent out.

Are the Porsche axles a drop in replacement for the dmc ones?

Be careful with any replacements. I had and axle that was about 3/4" shorter than the DeLorean axle and it made me get towed home.

Good to know! I've owned my DeLorean long enough to have to install my second set of CV boots. I was curious if there was a drop in replacement available, but I'll just go ahead and redo the boots anyway.

Disregard my link above. I thought you were looking for drop in CV joints, not the actual axle shaft.
