The higher idle speed makes a big difference in the AC cooling if stuck in traffic. It also helps the alternator put out more power at idle. Draw back is a little less MPG.

I’ve noticed both of those changes and I’m happy. I wish that last bit of hunting would go away, but perhaps if/when I adjust the curb idle that will improve.

I've got the CS130 alternator from DMCMW. It's a Nice improvement over my old Motorola.

The higher idle means a little bit more emissions at idle (not very important) and a harsher shift into 1st unless you slip the clutch more and that just makes more wear. There are alternators that can output some power even at idle. If you need it because you find yourself idling a lot (parades, traffic etc,) then go for it. The other choice is a smaller pulley on the alternator. As for the battery, you should be testing it every year and after 5 years, time to replace it. Or carry a portable jumper pack.

My alternator is also a DMCH unit from 2008. I believe it’s rated at 105 amps.
