Question about plastic hood latch cover

My original plastic latch cover is shot, so I ordered a new one. Does anyone know why there are only 2 tabs instead of 4 like the original piece? Everything I see online from the vendors shows only two tabs. My car is an early VIN. Was this possibly a production change?

Here is a picture of the original one and the replacement. Thanks for any insight!

I've got the 4 bolts in mine (VIN 4365) as well. See pic.

Thanks for the picture. The new one I ordered looks like the plastic for two of the four holes is just cut off. Strange. Curious if someone else will chime in here.

Maybe one of those DMCH repro parts.

The reason for having only two tabs on the plastic cover is that you only need to take out two bolts to remove it. This keeps the trunk latch from coming loose and messing up the latch alignment. I don't know if it was a "factory" change or something DMCH came up with years later. I actually think it's good idea and that's the way mine is on my car.

It's from DMCH but was listed as NOS.
