Best adult beverage to have when replacing fuse box?

Ok, so Im slowly getting to the point where I'll be planting myself in my car and replacing the fuse box (still have a bunch I can do while i put that off, though)...

Wondered what the best adult beverage is to have with my during my imprisonment as i cut n clamp the 2 million wires?

Also whats the best way to remain relatively comfortable and avoid an aching back.

Ive offered free ice cream (kroger brand, not fancy) for someone to come do it for me...wonder why no takers? lol

Toby has given me some good suggestions to make it a little easier to get to the wires, and Im sure the time (about 3 hours according to Toby) will go in an instant.

+1. Also use a soft pillow to put under your knees as you will be on them for a while, leaning over the fuse box.

Do yourself a favor, get a quality crimping tool like this one from Grainger:


I put a small piece of heat shrink tubing on each wire before crimping and shrunk it around the crimp area, like so:



All done:


It's been 4 years since I did the job in the July Florida heat, so my beverage of choice was Bud Light Lime.

Ha..already waay ahead of ya on that...my seats havent been in the car for over 4 years now. Not putting them back in til I get the fuse box back in, binnacle and dash buttoned up and
maybe even new seat covers.

Pull the metal plate so you can just turn the old block over and move it out of way. Then cut one wire at a time and install in the new block side by side with the old one. Try to untangle each wire back as far as possible in the harness. That will make very few wires needing to be extended. Just do 4 fuses at a sitting and take a break. So what if it takes you a day or two.

Day or 2...hehe...He said it was like a 3 hour job..but I expect alot more, since I dont do this often and want to take my time, given this is like a super critical part..no room for error.

I soldered and heat shrink-ed all the crimps and new wires so yes that does make the time 3 or 4 times longer. Not sure if it's worth it to solder and heat shrink.

That break you take drinking that beer also added a lot of time.
