    5 speed box weight

Hi everyone, hoping someone may know the answer to this. I’ve bought a 5 speed box and I’m in the process of organising to get it shipped from US to Australia. The shipping company want to know the weight of it. Anyone out there know how much it weighs?

    Cheers,
    Andrew

Rough guess 75 lbs. Assuming its going in a wooden box on a pallet, maybe 100. Best thing is to ask your seller to crate it and weigh it. There will be a lot of variability in the weight of the packing materials.

Fun Fact, since it's under 150lbs, you can ship a DeLorean manual transmission via UPS by simply putting it in a box; no need for freight or anything.

Personally I've had two transmissions shipped to me in this way (one was actually from Dave!^).

The one from Dave actually came neatly packaged in two boxes and arrived and was delivered very nicely:

The other one I had shipped came in one big box (along with a set of axles). I'm pretty sure the final weight must have been 149.9lbs . It arrived as expected, though it did look as though UPS had rolled the box end over end up the driveway (as indicated by the trail of packing peanuts from the road to the front door).
