Oh No. Door locked in open position

I have a slight issue with my drivers side door. since the passenger side door sticks when trying to unlock it, I unlocked the car and while the drivers side door was open, the locks engaged and the latches were open. The door is open and I engaged the latches so that I would not accidentally close the door and be really locked out. How can I fix this issue?

Insert a screwdriver shaft into the open area where the striker pin would normally rest if the door were closed. With the door unlocked, lift up the door release handle while pulling the latches apart with the driver shaft. You may have to do this for the front and the rear latches separately.

You should lubricate the latches at this time too because they should open easily.

I've also accidentally done this with my keyless remote. Best thing to do it disconnect the battery and actuate the door to the unlocked position manually. Had to do this a few times in the last year.

Honestly until you fix the underlying issue as Michael stated, you should disconnect the Door Lock Module from the electrical bay.

Thanks J and Michael. I got them unlocked and now a whole new issue. I shut the door and it’s not releasing the latch. So the door is now stuck.

You will need to set the latches in the proper positions for the doors to work. I'm not sure if you mean the door is stuck shut or the latches will not catch to keep the door closed. Try closing the door and cycling the door lock from the key. Also try working the interior release latch. If the door is closed and will not open, you may need to pull the panel and manually pull the latch rods to open the door and see what the issue is. The locks should not engage with the door open(with the battery connected that is).

If that doesn't help, upload a video which would help convey the problems.

I had the latches open and when I shut the door, it would not open. I had to manually push and pull on the lock rods and it finally released. I have the doors open now. Thank you for all your help. I have new latches from DMC that I want to install while im in there disconnecting lock rods for readjusting. On a side note, Michael you mentioned lubing the latches. What lube would you use for this?

I just use a light oil because I think grease attracts and traps dirt. I may use some lithium spray lube once a year but sparingly, usually just a few squirts of WD 40 keep them pretty free.
I'm sure there is a vendor or two out there that can't pound the keys fast enough to disagree. Fair enough. It's kind of like car wax. People see my wife's car and always ask me what wax I use. There is no real right or wrong answer, as long as you do it.

It does sound like your latches are sticking though.
