When pulling your relays with a metal tool, make sure you disconnect the battery first. Many relays have battery connections always powered and sticking a screw driver or similar tool under the relay can be very bad.
With my solid state relays I also have some solder pads driving signals to the upper circuit board that can be damaged connecting that battery voltage to those pads.
I got a returned fan relay and the ground trace was blown open on the lower circuit board. I jumpered that open trace and the relay then worked as designed.
