DeLorean 40th Birthday Bash - Event Registration is Open
Event Registration is now Open, from today through Sunday, August 8, 2021.
There will be No On-Site Registration, so make sure to register before 08/08/21.
Sorry for not getting the link posted sooner this morning, since I was distracted
with the Richard Branson - Virgin Spacecraft - Unity 22 - flight to space today.
Max. Altitude over 272,000 feet and Max. Speed over 2,000 mph.
Back to Earth (and DCS Lite 2021) on the DCS - DeLorean Convention and Show
website. Event Registration is directly on the Main Page, for now. Link below:
https://www.deloreanconvention.com/
In theory, we attempted to keep Adult Registration at $40 for the 40th Birthday
and we came pretty close to our goal (prior to processing fees). As stated in
several posts in the past, there are No Dinner Purchases Required, as a few
previous attendees have made an issue, so make your own dinner plans.
If you want to make sure to get an Event T-Shirt, please make sure to Register
and pre-pay for a T-Shirt by August 1, since T-Shirts need a 10-day lead time.
There will be Car Judging and Awards at the Show & Shine at the DMC Midwest
Open House on Saturday, August 14, but make sure to include your car info on
the DCS Lite Event Registration page, so we can track the number of cars, so
we can best plan the Car Judging effort required on Saturday afternoon.
More details to follow.

There have been a few questions of why we asked
Zachary DeLorean to attend and talk at DCS Lite.
For those of you who only know Zachary DeLorean
from several segments, each only a few moments,
from the Framing John DeLorean movie, you need
to look at the bigger picture. Tamir interviewed Zach
several times, each time for several hours, so keep in
mind you may have seen 1 minute per 1 hour filmed
and basing an opinion on a few select moments from
hours of interviews may not be completely accurate.
Zachary was interviewed primarily in 2017 and 2018,
with “Framing” released in 2019. A lot has happened
since the release, and Zach has seen a whole new side
of the DeLorean Community since the release. In fact,
Zach was looking forward to joining us at DCS 2020,
until it was cancelled due to the pandemic last year.
I have had a few conversations with Zach this year,
including some very honest and straightforward talks
about what we hope Zach will talk about. Zach said
he would speak his mind and give his opinions, about
a variety of topics, with no BS, and Zach said very few
topics will be “out of bounds” (we will brief attendees).
Tamir knows Zach best, over many years, so Tamir will
act as an Interview Host, much like he did for the hours
of interviews with Zach, and depending on available
time, we will either ask Zach some of your questions
from an advance list (to avoid duplicates) or we will have
a mic ready for attendees to ask Zach questions directly.
More details to follow.

And that is why I love Zach! I wish I could attend.

Rich I am glad you addressed this. I'll admit I was surprised at first, but your explanation here puts things into perspective.

VIP Guest - Don Sherman, automotive writer for 44 years
The DCS Lite Planning Team is happy to announce Don Sherman,
automotive writer for 44 years, will be attending DCS Lite 2021
and partaking in the DeLorean 40th Birthday Bash this August.
Don has a busy schedule, but he will spend 2 days at our event.
As DeLorean owners, fans and enthusiasts know (those over 40),
Don Sherman has written for automotive magazines for 44 years,
with the likes of Car & Driver, Road & Track, Motor Trend and
Popular Mechanics. Don has also written books and supplemental
manuals for companies such as Bentley Publishing, and much more
recently, Don has been writing historical auto articles for Hagerty.
For the younger crowd (or those who need refresh their memories),
we recommend you read or re-read Don’s article in Car & Driver of
July 1981, called: 1981 DeLorean - First Drive. If you do not have a
hard copy of the magazine, just search for it online and read it.
We have a Q&A planned with Don, including some of his stories of
the DeLorean Release and the DeLorean Twin Turbo Track preview,
as well as his memories of contemporary vehicle performance when
the DeLorean was being initially tested back in 1981.

Stupid Newbie
I most likely won't be able to attend due to work, will the presentations be recorded for later viewing? I'd be willing to pay to see them on my own schedule.

It is unlikely that we will have anyone doing commercial grade recording
for this event, since we were unable secure anyone on short notice.
However, we will have at least one or two volunteers with consumer grade
video cameras and quality results may vary considerably, so there are no
current plans for rebroadcast at a later time. This does not mean that it
will not happen, just that it is not a priority, due to compressed schedule.
There are also no plans to live-stream any of the event presentations.

For those of you planning to drive their DeLoreans to the 40th Birthday Bash,
there will be Show & Shine Car Show at DMC Midwest on Saturday, Aug. 14.
Classes will be based on the number of cars listed in the Event Registration
or listed in the RSVP to DMC Midwest.
