The wife started in on the transmission. She removed the output flanges and the tail piece.

You're making slow, but steady progress. I was in a similar place as you a year or two ago. It seems bleak in the moment, but it's super rewarding when you get to the reassembly phase. Keep up the good work!

My crossgate cable wore through the outer jacket in the same place. That seems to be where it passes through the frame. Maybe enough vibration will do it. Where did you get your new cross gate cable? I'm waiting on DPI to make a kevlar jacket cable for me.

Boy getting that shifting shaft out was a major P.I.T.A. first trying to drift out the roll pins through the little plug while holding everything in the correct position then trying to compress the springs while trying to pop the plastic sleeves out. OMG!!
After cleaning it up we could see how pitted the shaft is where the seal rides. One issue I can see with this design is the the shaft doesn't only rotate but also goes in out out laterally. It's a tough job for a seal in an area that picks up a bunch of crap off from the road.
We need to decide to leave the shaft as is and hope that it doesn't leak, bring it to a machine shop to be repaired, or buy a new one for $200.00.

Just an FYI I've seen report on Facebook where the D-go crossgate cable end has snapped off of it at the shifter. Maybe two people reported this. Inspect it carefully before installing.

The missing parts that we bought from DPI finally showed up the other day. After all this waiting I was kind of disappointed with the nuts that hold the front lip of the gas tank closing plate. The plate and all the fasteners are stainless steel but this nuts are just regular zinc plated clip in nuts.
My worry is that over time the bolts will get seized in the nuts. And then of course when forced the clips will just break free. Then you'd have nuts spinning in a location that you can't get to with tools. I did some poking around online and found a different style nut that wouldn't spin and is even available in stainless steel. In the end we decided to just use the clip nuts that go to the closing plate we bought but made sure to put anti-sieze on the bolts.

I cleaned up the gas tank, removed the old foam pads, I used some foam tape that I had at the shop to put on the bottom of the gas tank.
