No, we have accumulated a massive inventory due to all of our efi installs. We would like one back, but if the one you have isn't the best it's fine.

Those backup rings aren?t rare. Houston sells a pair for $5.
You want them both there in order to provide the correct cavity dimensions to properly seat and retain each one of those O-rings.
Install the backup ring into the butterfly assy first with the O-ring on top of it. O-ring seals against the face of the W-pipe as in the Air Induction diagram.

It has been nearly impossible to carve out time to work on this project. Our HVAC business has us working long stressful days. I swear every year half of our customers forget that it is going to get cold out in the fall. We really should have spent today doing household chores, prepping for snow, etc. But the wife has been really upset that nothing is getting done on the car so we blew off adulting today to go for a long run (8 miles for me and 18 miles for her) and then work on the Delorean.

I showed the wife how to check the ring gap and she got that done while I cleaned one of the heads that seemed to have dirt in it (stuck in the oil layer) when I received it from DMW.

She got that done in short order so I showed her how to install the piston rings.
It seems like all too often I warn her of the consequences of messing up on what she is working on and she gets mad at me yelling "Why do you always say that!?!"
I don't know how else to handle this. I'm just being honest. You spread one of the rings too wide and it breaks and now we need to buy another piston ring set. Anyways she did a great job putting the rings on. She asked why I made her put all the rings in 120 degree offsets now if they are just going to move around until we are actually installing the pistons in the engine. A valid point indeed.

While she was doing that I inspected the cams and the valve tappets.
One lobe on one of the cams looked bad to me. I carefully tried cleaning with degreaser and scotchbrite. It seems like it was some sort of a coating. Not sure why only this lobe had it on it.
