While I agree that DMC deserves some chiding over the number of attempts at a new car, when you know a little bit of the behind-the-scenes efforts that have been put into them, (that are not my place to share), only to have those efforts go to waste due to various reasons (one recent example is the 5-year NHTSA delay in issuing rules), then you tend to give them a little more slack.
I think setting up a different company for the project and hiring executive staff is a pretty elaborate attempt just to social-engineer media in my opinion. I for one am looking forward to the future details of this announcement.

Just saw a spot on Fox News about this. One of the hosts said, "How can I take it anywhere? It's got such a long wingspan."

I bet there already is a product which is most likely a refreshed and rebadged existing product.
I don't know if it's been mentioned on talk or other places that I have been reading but the rumor that carries the most water is the Vietnam based VinFast seems to be the company that acquired the "DeLorean Reimagined" name and by the look of their logo is an exact match to the "V" we are seeing hints of.
VinFast is a fairly young company but they have a few vehicles in production and they are solvent. They also have the backing of some heavy hitters in their corner.

I could very well see Vinfast becoming the next Kia here. They have already confirmed coming to the US this year with 2 small SUV electrics.
Maybe the DeLorean brand just them buying cheap advertising or maybe they have a sports car on the back burner and with all the excitement it generates, could be a reality in the future.
I still stand by my original statement. DMCH never will make a new car and now it looks like they never will. They just sold the branding to people that can and on the surface, looks like they will.

Can't wait for a whole new feature to DeLorean ownership and encounters with the public...
Me: I love my car
Public: What is it?
Me: A DeLorean
Public: Oh? Really... what made you get one of those?
Me: No, no. A DeLorean DMC-12, from 1981
Public:
Me: The car from Back to the Future, the time machine, John DeLorean
Public: I think I'd have picked the Mach E over that, pity they called in a Mustang though
