    Louvre struts locking mechanism explained?

How are the ends of the louvre struts held in place on the ball studs? Or more specifically, what little clasp or lever needs to move or slide over or whatever to get the struts out?

I am familiar with the little wire clips they use on both the door struts and the hood struts, but the louvre struts aren't the same. And I can't seem to see well enough what I'm supposed to do to get them off.

A photo showing how this works would be perfect.

    Thanks.

Mine have the wire pin like the doors but I think some you have to unbolt them. Mine are from Dgo and came with ball studs attached.

I think you're talking about the Stabilus struts with a hard plastic ball socket on each end that looks like this one.

    Follow these instructions from Stabilus.
In particular use the guide for "Plastic Ball Socket" type along with the general rules at the top of the guide.

This works on non-Stabilus struts with such a design, too.

Thanks Rich. That photo is exactly what mine are. With the plastic ends. I'll give it a go and see what happens. My struts are fine, but I bought new replacement brackets for these to mount to so wanted to get those installed.
