    Asbestos Catalytic Converter Heat Shield

The catalytic converter heat shield on my car is still present and made of asbestos. It's flaking dust and also making it very hard to safely change the oil pressure switch. According to DMCH they don't have replacements and they aren't really necessary. (See: https://store.delorean.com/106010-ca...eatshield.html) Is it safe to run without one? Can I just remove it? (Obviously I would be removing it safely.)

I still have mine. It is bent and flaking too. Haven't died yet. :-)

I painted my shield in 2013 with VHT paint after learning it is made of asbestos. The paint is still there and so am I.

If the shield is still present and intact, I would restore it. That's what I did to mine. Use gloves and a mask, and don't sand it. I painted mine with 4 coats of flameproof VHT aluminum paint.

After 6 years, it still looks the same.
