finished this project.. I jumped otterstat and did decibel test before and after. they are not any quieter. just higher pitch. both registered 75 dec.
the best part about them is they have no where near the draw of the old ones... when they kicked in on first warm up you would not know it other than the fan noise. They don't drag down everything else inside the car like the old ones did.. If that makes sense..
Ive now driven the car a few times and when they kick on they dont seem as loud as the old ones. I think the engine noise drowns out the higher pitch they have. idk. Checking decibel level without engine running was not a good test. when they kicked on the first drive in traffic i barely noticed. They actually cool the car quicker so they dont stay on near as long. Overall I think a good upgrade.
You can get fans that draw 30 amps each. But what you want is enough cooling to keep you from overheating. There were a few in the EU that were using fans drawing less then 3 amps each and they were happy.
