    DPI Water Pump

Any chance someone has a DPI water pump that they never installed? This is my next step in reassembly and I?m not sure when they will be back in stock.

Yeah, a lot of parts I want from DPI say next batch in production. Until they're back in stock you could get a water pump from advanceautoparts
    https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...ctedStore=6513

Looks like this one doesn't have a flange, you will need one or a press on pulley

The nice thing about these parts is the lifetime warranty, when it fails take it back and get another free. There are some similar pumps where the back is oriented differently. So just make sure the back of the part you get looks the same as the original.

If you want one for a bolt on pulley, look at the 1987 Volvo 780 Bertone 2.8L water pumps on rockauto, amazon or ebay. Same thing as the DeLorean for 1/3 of the cost. I just bought a closeout pump on rock for $25 so keep an eye out for specials.

Dan, those pumps use a different back plate than the DeLorean. So you?d need to make sure you source one of those. Not sure if they mate up to the stock Y-pipe.

To be honest, I don't know of any replacement pump that comes with a plate on the back; they're usually sold separately. You'd typically clean up and reuse what you've already got from the pump you're replacing. Same with the sensor & t-stat housing (not only is that also not included but Volvo doesn't have a bleed fitting, Eagle does). You'd need a pulley if you're going from pressed to bolt on. I thought the Volvo and DeLorean back plates were the same but it has been many years since I sold my original engine and had something to compare to so I really cannot comment on that anymore but I can provide photos of the volvo setup for comparison if needed, or could compare casting numbers if they have them. What I can tell you is that the Eagle Premier and Dodge Monaco back plates will not work: they don't have the smaller outlet for the coolant return pipe and instead the coolant returns on those models via a fitting in the actual pump where the sensor would normally go - totally different setup.

I was just able to compare parts and it turns out I am wrong here, Eagle/Volvo back plates are the same thing, same part number. The DeLorean back plate is different in that the coolant return pipe points at more of an angle and facing the wrong way compared to the Eagle/Volvo below:

You want the spiral in the back of the pump to match the pump from the delorean, it needs to be oriented the same. The 1980 Volvo 265 has the correct pump for the stock Delorean https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...t=2208&jsn=425

If the back plate from the volvo/eagle premier could be modified to work with the Delorean's y pipe/heater hose. There is a web site that sells the Volvo baritone pumps that are similar to ours, with a lifetime warranty.

Will the Volvo/eagle premier y pipe fit the delorean?
