I want to know who these "experts" are that estimate there are 6,500 left. I think the number of intact cars is higher, but the number of drivable cars is far lower, but what criteria does it take to be an expert?

To be an expert in anything hypothetical all you have to do is call yourself an expert.

I'm still new to ownership so I'm enjoying the parade response.

Driving a Delorean or putting gas in one is like a parade experience. My friends have been kind enough to let me put gas in their Deloreans a few times. As soon as the hood and doors go up, people stare at you and make comments. I kind of enjoy it. I love it when a child comes up and says " where is the engine?"

So then I can consider myself an expert; having owned 3 cars and often assessing other DeLoreans for interested parties and providing many details that the average fan may overlook.

I guess it can also be said that experts disagree on the number of DeLoreans left.

Same here. Except when creepy guys follow me for 20 minutes to ask about the car (true story). Then it's a bit unsettling.

You know you're a DeLorean owner when "Run DMC" is not an 80's band, but a daily prayer.
