Front Hub to Brake Disc Torque Spec w/ Loctite 601

The service manual calls for 20 ft-lbs of torque on the four bolts that hold the front hub to the brake disc WITH Loctite 601. This is not a threadlocker, but rather a retaining compound for tight fitting metal components.

I'm assuming this should be applied in the mating surfaces of the brake disc and the hub, and not on the threads of the bolts. Can someone clarify how much I need to use, and where?

Also, I see that 601 has been superceeded by 603.

Never used it, but agree it sounds like it goes on the cylindrical faces as opposed to the bolt threads. Attached is the datasheet. Note removal requires heat.

Thanks for the help, the data sheet answered a few of my questions.

Has anyone else ever used this stuff? I doubt the wheels will fall off the car without it, but the engineers designing the car must have had a reason for calling it out on the torque spec.
