It went pretty well for a first drive. The idle is a bit high, and there is a little hesitation for the first 1 or 2 percent of pedal travel. But those are both tuning issues. My friend and I drove around his neighborhood several times, kept the RPMs below 3,500 or so, and went through the first three gears. Car drove very nicely at cruising speed, and had no problems with light acceleration.

Once I finish the tuning process, it will most certainly have been worth it, both functionally, as well as for the giant feeling of accomplishment I am feeling right now.

While starting my battery rewire, I pulled the heat stove off. Wondering if I should make a heat shield for the alternator since the heat stove may have done a little alternator heat reduction. I could just use one of the spare bolt holes (I have stock exhaust manifolds) to mount a new heat shield.

I slammed my head repeatedly against the steering wheel trying to solve this starting problem.

I did get my fuel pressure tester in but since the time changed it is dark when I get home from work so that has to wait until the weekend.

I changed the oil and filter, just before storing it for winter.

After a great summer driving it, it now have 35 000 miles.

How did your car make it into the country without it's A/C being drained first Simon?

I replaced my starter solenoid, changed my fuel filter, and replaced the fuel line from the filter with a new stainless braided line. I am in process now of changing out by steering column bushing...fun.

I drove her again today. I'm confident that the hot start issue is fixed. I LOVE my half second starts. I'm no longer embarrassed in a parking lot. I'm going to enjoy driving her while I save up to start upgrades.
