I had never done one before, and it took me a little less than 2 hours, from start to finish.

My engine twists my frame.
1981 DeLorean, Carb LS4 swap completed
1999 Corvette, cam/headers/intake manifold, 400 rwhp
2005 Elise, stock
2016 Chevy Cruze
It ended up being a lot easier than I thought it would be.
I already had the intermidiate shaft out from taking my front end apart. Thats when I noticed the bushing was bad.
I think I may have short-cut the procedure, because I didn't bother taking the knee pads off. I just took the one screw out for the strap on the air duct and removed the duct to reach the 3 plugs for the column easier.
Took the 2 small nuts off the side brackets that are shared with the 2 larger nuts that hold the column up in place. Then I took the 2 larger nuts off that hold the cloumn up and dropped it down and turned the column 180 degrees so the bracket would clear the knee pads. It only took about 5 min. to get the column out. Very easy IMO.

I put on the respirator and some rubber gloves and removed the old Asbestos heat shield and fitted a new Stainless one from DMCMW, looks fantastic!!!! I also removed the catalytic convertor shield as it was looking very tatty and tired.

I swapped out my idler bearings last night. Driving was so much nicer without that horrid squeal.

Bottomed out really hard on a deceptively steep parking lot entrance. Spent the whole evening taking the front wheels off to inspect the front end. Looks like the only damage was some pretty gnarly scrapes on the sway bar brackets, so I guess that's lucky.
As you know I have been rewiring my battery wires but tonight I unwrapped the whole engine harness to clean up the wiring. Removed the wires for the WOT, Idle micro-switch and the thermal time switch. I was in there to connect my new harness for the starter solenoid, oil pressure gauge and alternator light.
I still need to replace the long battery wire. That wire has terminals ready to fall off and a PO put a new one on the battery end that has the worst crimp I've seen.
I'm going to leave the harness unwrapped because it needs more work but I need to not do to much without testing what I've done.
