I couldn't go the summer with the intake looking like that. I was supposed to work on a buddy's motorcycle but he had to cancel so I pulled all that new stainless stuff back off as well as my finishing panels I made many many years ago that covered that mess up and painted the visible part of my intake. I just did the horns and runners but next winter I will pull it and do it right. This will hold me over.

I used the same paint as I did on my valve covers. It's a nice warm silver that holds up very well.

I've never been one to "dress up" an engine compartment, but I have to say yours looks great.

Got the car out for the first lap of the 2021 driving season on Saturday. It started right up and had no issues on the drive. Went for my usual 40 or so mile circuit with a drive thru coffee stop on the route. For being 40 years old, it sure is a lot more reliable than other things/people that age I know.

My lower engine compartment hasn’t had the rubber bump stops for years. I got some inspiration to make something that would work. I was able to get everything I needed from my local Ace Hardware store. All the pieces were stainless.

I was missing the threaded insert in the engine cover. I found a functional replacement.

I used some JB Weld to bond the insert in place.

Did you paint your valve covers in place? The Rust-Oleum paint doesn't have a very high heat rating but you have had no issues with it on the valve covers? I would love to do something to improve my valve covers.

I also painted my intake and valve covers with Rust-Oleum about 10 years ago and it holds up fine. The only problem is you can't clean it with a solvent or that will take off the paint.
