Overfilled the tank and popped the cover off my pump boot. I'm just glad the spilled fuel was $4.02 Ft. Bragg stuff and not the faaancy $6.47 Mendocino gas at the bottom of the tank. Rolled it over to 55,000 in a redwood forest.

    I am STILL WAITING!!!

    Really, I mean just REALLY???

Rain on this past Sunday and Monday finally cleared off the majority of the salt from the last April snowstorm. I had 5 minutes of free time yesterday in which I started up the engine for the first time this year. Ran great, but no time to inspect everything and take it out for a drive. I guess I'll try again next week sometime.

Mocked up my exhaust and bought some metal to make my brackets (set purchased without them). Unfortunately my welder is out of gas and Airgas didn't have any tanks in stock. I had to get them to order it. I'll probably cut and bend the brackets tomorrow. I may go with flux core if I get really bored of waiting. I can get the penetration I need with flux, it just won't be as pretty.

I love the powdercoating and chrome slashcut tips.

Texas State Inspection - another year

I know the Texas State inspection isn't too difficult to pass (no emissions test), but it still feels good all the same to have it out of the way.

About 30 seconds into the test the inspector calls me over. I'm thinking... damn failed already... then he asks if I can operate the horn. Of course I just reach in and pump the horn - which sounds like a 'cruise ship on helium'. I bet he spent a few seconds pressing the steering pad or something before giving up.
