think i found the cold squeal at 10:30 last night (cause why not work on the car right before going to bed). alternator belt had over 1" of deflection. adjusted the alternator to tighten that up (which is an unnecessary pain in the ass if you ask me with the stock adjuster bracket, thanks Volvo).
When i fired up the car this morning to go to the local Cars & Coffee meet, it fired up with no squeal. hopefully that was it and the noise is no more going forward.

    Pulled accumulator out

I pulled my old accumulator out last night and decided to cut it open to see what was inside.

I took a hacksaw to it and carefully pried open the case while it was clamped to my vise. Eventually the spring let go and shot out.

Today, I gave up on trying to repair the engine, and started looking for a replacement.

installed DMCH's cold air "performance" intake during my lunch hour (the beauty of working from home). tested the inlet valve with my heat gun. it does work and open the valve in it, but holy crap did it need to get hot before it started letting "cool" air in via the pontoon. cant wait to take the car out for a spin now to see if i notice any difference.

Yeah that valve is useless. The car is better served with the "cold air" intake.

Sent 10372 off to it's new owner on Friday and got 4728 in my garage on Saturday to begin disassembling stuff.

Tonite I removed both seats, passenger side valve cover and driver side front caliper.

I poured water into the intake valley so that it was filled above the level of the little casting fins -- or whatever they're called.

Replaced my front springs with with DPI lowering springs, after a few days its really starting to settle and looks WAY better and feels better too. While I was in there I replaced the old front control arm bushings (lower) and found out my front driver side are was badly bent so no point to replace the bushing but the other side was no problem (used a large socket to push the old one out).. So now im looking for a replacement arm and boy are they expensive, I might have to find a decent used one or DPI has nice refurb arms...UGH.. I did do the safety recall for the sway bar brackets .. nice. All in a days work.

-Strained my brain trying to think of what I'm forgetting to add to my parts order.

-Vacuumed the carpets in preparation for their removal this weekend.

-Paced around the car a few times to build a positive-energy field.
