Stupid Delorean Comment Of the Day

Recently at a car show next to a very nice Pantera, the owner of it asks if I'd want to sell. I tell him at least $45k after he's asked a few times and I've told him no, just so he either will say "okay" or just get that I'm not selling. Then he offers to trade it for his 96 Vette and $2000 (nope), and then says he can easily find one for $2k and rebuild it for less than $10...
    Okay.
Btw, this was a car show where, amongst only 3 sports cars there including my DeLorean, a 32 Ford Coupe won for Best Sports Car...

When my buddy's car had the fuel leak in the restaurant parking lot the other night, some wag walked by and said "You must need Doc McFly!"

Like, come on, son, if you're going to make BTTF jokes at least get it right...

I was at a classic car meet on Sunday, and a guy on noticing the two DeLoreans parked up, wonders over and after some initial questions comes out with the classic 'Do they work?'

Nine times out of ten I get almost that same question - at the gas station, at car shows, at the mall, at some event. When they do ask though if I drove it there, I tend to reply, "No, I flew it here of course..."

    That always gets a smile.

I've actually never gotten that question. I always get the more appropriate "how does it run?"/"does it run good?"

That seems to be a very frequent opening inquiry. The slightly more knowledgeable, adventurous types usually follow with, "Why don't you drop a 305 in to it?" to which I reply with, "If you are buying me one, sure!"

    I got once
"That's the first one I have seen running"

I'm thinking "How many have you seen, because I have lived here 40 years and only seen 2 others(both running)"

I'd think they would ask more about having a 350 than a 305 in there..

Though when people see my 350, a number of them ask if that was a kit, or comment on the original engine being a Subaru 4 cylinder.

You're right. Last time I saw an acquaintance when I was working on my car he mentioned dropping a 305 in which stuck out as different. Never heard anyone throw a Subie 4 cylinder into the mix.
