I'm at a stop sign in a residential neighborhood near home. High school kid with his girl walking yells "I think I'm in love."
I look back out my tiny window and make eye contact with the girl first and say, He's talking to you, right?

Get a Gen 1 Honda Insight or Acura NSX so you can tell them..
"No, but my other car is aluminum."
As for the billy-bob thing, at least people (hopefully) don't coal roll your car.. Had some guy on I-81 south in Virginia near Roanoke try doing it at interstate speeds while towing something and he failed all 4 times he tried, so I got a laugh.
"Thanks for coming!".. I haven't dared take my Insight to anything like that yet, so when I do, lets hope it's as nice as that.
But yeah, it seems no matter what you drive, people will find a way to put it down and it's usually with misinformation too.

I found this using a fabulous invention called the Google. It's pretty neat - you guys really need to check it out

At a gas station filling up today. A guy jumps out of his car and says, "How much you pay for this, dude?" (not off to a good start). The rest of the conversation was like this:
Me: Plenty
Guy: $20?
Me: Plenty...enough
Guy: I hear they go for like $13
Me: They're a lot more than that
Guy: Are you going to put a continuum inhibitor on it?
Me: Flux capacitor? No.
Really, you get to talk to a DeLorean owner and you lead with "how much did you pay." You don't have a more interesting question to ask that Google can't readily answer for you? Not to mention I'm a total stranger and that's just rude.
Kid clearly born after the 80s: "DeLorean? Who makes that?"
