Maybe it's just perception, but to me "a few" is no more than one thousand or so. There's "a few" Tuckers. There's "a few" Veyrons. Averaging over 100 in every US state (even adjusting for foreign D's) doesn't seem particularly rare. Just unique. My two cents, anyways.

You have no idea. My strangest encounter was with a homeless guy while I was filling up who thought I was an alien and wanted me to take him home. He only left me alone when I told him I'd be back later for him.

Most of my strange encounters seem to always happen at gas stations.

    +1 on the gas stations.

Today, while at Chevron, Tommy-the-toothless redneck vagrant comes up to me as I'm filling the car. The first words out of his mouth were "Where is the flux capacitator?" (and we've all been foolishly thinking they were flux capacitors....) I quickly responded that I ordered mine without that particular option and this look of confusion comes across his face and he slithers off back to his one-eyed (not kidding, pirate patch) buddy at the side of the Quicky Mart.

In the spirit of not being too judgmental, it is indeed possible that he was a totally upstanding, highly educated individual that was merely posing in order to conduct research for his doctoral degree. Unlikely, but always a possibility.

I think they're all used to bizarre vehicles driving around by now, with me in the D and all :-P

The owner of that car also has an A-Team van, and his brother has a Starsky & Hutch Gran Torino!

Stopped at a gas station today to pick up a soda. Guy comes up to me and asks to hear my DeLorean. So I start it up. He comments with this jewel: "Yo, your DeLorean sounds gangster AS FUCK!!!"
