I am going to have to politely hand you this now:

Granted, they are "rebuilt", but man, I wouldn't tell the public any more than they need to know. As you painfully found out, they can be WAY OUT in left field ...

Me: Eddie, I can't wait to get the car back when you're done with it.
Eddie: Yeah, you'll be able to give the car gas, and it won't be - like - embarrassing....

I'll bet if I dug up the thread here where I first read that the brake calipers were no longer available, someone will have posted the same link...
I wasn't exactly expecting him to go that far in left field. I mean, Top Gear said it had aluminum body panels, but they were mostly accurate about everything else. Boy did I learn my lesson!
At least he didn't mention the whole cocaine thing...

I use these calipers. They fit pretty nicely in the front wheels with wilwood rotors. I actually dug out my original front brakes from the shed and in the next year or so I'd like to try to draw up the custom pieces required to use them and possibly make them more available. I notice a huge difference when I drive a stock DeLorean.
As for the comments, yea... it's hard. I used to want to educate the world so badly. Now I just learn to pick and choose my battles. Honestly, I rarely see a use in trying to correct the guy at the gas station, or the grocery store, or even car shows. It is tough though when it's someone you know; especially family. You dont want to be rude but you also dont want to live the rest of your life with them constantly inaccurately talking about your car. Maybe a nice fact sheet would help him, lol.

As for people talking inaccurately, yeah, you're totally right about picking battles, Nick. I remember the days I sought out anyone who misspoke about the car. That got old really quickly, and I burned out. At car cruise-ins or car shows, I do tend to educate people more - plus I take the Explode-A-View poster as well as the fact sheet linked above. With those two sources of info and my knowledge, I tend to be able to reach everyone. Gas stations, supermarkets, and random parking lot run-ins = let go by the wayside.

Yesterday at a gas station in Nebraska a guy asked me "Where's the reflux capacitor". I think that's what he thought it was called.

Yesterday, a guy walked by and said "Hey, that's a beautiful car. I saw on TV that there's a shop in, I think, California, where they have all the parts you need and they can rebuild these Denalis from the ground up."
"Yep," I said, "there's a whole network, including locations in Houston and Chicago, too."
