Annual update with several new cars.

Went to visit VIN1990 today. Bit grim.

Fascias have been repainted in a lighter silver shade - presumably to match the stainless and looks pretty bad from a lot of angles. Lots of filler/bondo visible on them too. Weather stripping around doors gone, drivers door either not latched or in bad shape! Interior is... very red, more fitting for a Countach than a D. Headliners have been trimmed in leather though and in my opinion are nicer than production. Wheels have been painted black with silver bits which is quite nice, oddball quad exhaust put on, louvre is in bad shape with the vents at back gone and various chips, and a kink/dent in the stainless panel at the top of the louver on the LH side. Various bits of trim inside coming away but that's probably due to busy fingers. Bumpers are quite faded too.

Overall it's a bit of a state, wouldn't take much to make it pristine though! Looks great sitting next to an Esprit, too.

That interior is HIDEOUS.

Anyone who has ever studied color theory will ALSO tell you that's a terrible idea. Red is a very stressful and "angry" color, which is why competent office designers know to never use red for walls or cubicles or any other large, enclosed areas. That is the exact opposite of what you would want inside of an automobile.

Some additional details for the cars at Universal Studios, CA

VIN 5261 is correctly listed as the A car and currently resides at the NBSUnversal Experience museum located on the lower lot of the Universal Studios theme park.

VIN 10724 (Grey/Manual) is a non screen used replica car built by Jay Ohrberg and is also owned by Universal Studios. Some of the time machine parts originally used to build it were screen used parts scavenged from the B car train wreckage. It is currently on display as part of the back lot studio tram tour next to several futuristic screen used BTTF vehicles and other universal screen used vehicles. This is where 5261 used to reside prior to the 2012 restoration. Throughout the 90's and 2000s 10724 and 5261 were used interchangeably as display cars in front of BTTF The Ride. After the ride closure 10724 was parked on the back lot near the tram garage while 5261 was more prominantly displayed in the screen used cars section of the tram tour route.

Agreed. Now I think about it, the museum's who deal is custom vehicles - there's a Bricklin in acid yellow on Dubs, a Ferrari 400i converted into a El Camino sort of deal, so I think that red leathering was done in-house as part of an extreme makeover sort of deal. On reflection the car might have been lucky to escape as is.
